Canada Day Concert at Central Park SummerStage

Saturday July 1, 2023

Speakers:

  • Valley
  • Yves Jarvis
  • The Rural Alberta Advantage

We’re showcasing Canada’s gentle side, bringing a trio of tender-hearted singer-songwriters that showcase the country’s progressive folk scene.

Valley are known for their energetic live shows, performing at renowned music festivals across the world including The Governors Ball, Slow Life, Slow Live Festival, Wonderstruck, Life Is Beautiful and last year the band nearly sold out their first-ever North American headlining tour.

Montreal’s prolific songwriter and producer Yves Jarvis creates metaphysical experiences with an ever-expanding and richly textured palette. His 2022 LP The Zug tempers his persistent optimism with a caustic wit; his last two efforts were longlisted for the Polaris prize, awarded to the best Canadian album regardless of genre, sales, or record label.

The Rural Alberta Advantage (Amy Cole, Paul Banwatt and Nils Edenloff) has explored themes ranging from hometowns lost and found to tragic Alberta disasters with an earnest style of songwriting that has continued to leave its mark and grab fans around the world. Years of touring have filled rooms with a sound far beyond what any music fan would initially expect from a trio, until they witness Paul’s incomparable drumming style live and the number of parts Amy can play at any one time alongside Nils’ cathartic vocals.
