Truth in Our Time – New York
Tuesday April 5, 2022
The NAC Orchestra is back on tour this March and April 2022! With stops at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Carnegie Hall in New York, and Southam Hall in Ottawa, the NAC Orchestra is premiering Symphony No. 13 by renowned composer, and Glenn Gould Prize recipient, Philip Glass (Einstein on the Beach, The Hours, The Truman Show), a work commissioned by the Orchestra on the theme of Truth in Our Time.
Glass’s Symphony No. 13 is a moving tribute to Canadian journalist Peter Jennings. Mr. Jennings was not only a highly respected news anchor for ABC News, he was also a trustee of Carnegie Hall during his years in New York City, the founding director of the American chapter of the Friends of the NAC Orchestra, and served as a lifelong champion of Canadian artists.
Under the direction of Alexander Shelley and featuring Canadian soloists James Ehnes (Gramophone Artist of the Year 2021) and Blake Pouliot, celebrate with us this exciting concert tour which includes works by Canadian composer Nicole Lizée, as well as Shostakovich, and Korngold – we’ll see you on the road!
