Montreal’s Le Patin Libre Performs at the Brooklyn Academy of Music
Tuesday April 6, 2021
The Consulate General of Canada in New York, in partnership with the Quebec Government in New York, supported the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s presentation of Influences by Montreal’s Le Patin Libre ice skating troupe at Prospect Park skating rink. With spectators taking advantage of socially distanced seating at the park’s outdoor ice rink, these performances helped to signal that in-person cultural events in New York are coming back and that Canada will continue to play a meaningful role. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio welcomed the crowd of 200 on opening night (Apr. 6) to emphasize the role that culture plays in New York’s identity and how important a safe return will be in the coming months. Acting Consul General Khawar Nasim and Delegate General Catherine Loubier were both acknowledged.
