Canadian Voices in Dance at the Battery Dance Festival+

On March 25, the Consulate General of Canada in New York partnered with Battery Dance Festival+ on a virtual dance program that premiered on their YouTube channel. This virtual dance program included five diverse Canadian dance makers – The National Ballet of Canada, Citadel and Cie, Kaeja d’Dance, Rubberbanddance, and Tanveer Alam – in a one-hour program highlighting a slice of Canada’s exceptional talent pool to a worldwide audience. Acting Consul General Khawar Nasim offered videotaped welcoming remarks to the program, which both presented an opportunity to showcase Canadian excellence in dance, as well as to provide support to the industry writ large. Interviews with all the artists were pre-recorded and broadcast weekly through Battery Dance’s Diplomacy series.
