The Consulate General of Canada in New York supports The Council for Canadian American Relations‘ special program “Art With A Conscience: A Conversation” which was presented at MOMA on October 25, 2022.
During the first part of the program, Kaywin Feldman (Director, National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.) converses with Sasha Suda (Director, Philadelphia Museum of Art). Sasha Suda was recently the Director and CEO of the National Gallery of Canada until 2022 when she joined the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They both speak on three questions that frame the art scene today:
- Where are we?
- What are our responsibilities?
- And where do we go from here?
During the second part of the program, Kaywin Feldman and Sasha Suda are joined by Darren Walker (President, Ford Foundation) and Artists Dawoud Bey and Lisa Hageman Yahgujanaas. During this portion, the conversation includes the following questions:
- Where have we been?
- What do we think of when we hear the title “Art with a Conscience”?
